How to Protect your vehicles from thieves

HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PREVENT VEHICLE BURGLARIES AND THEFTS

Never leave valuables in your vehicle in plain view,
NEVER LEAVE YOUR GPS OR THE CRADLE IN PLAIN VIEW, this is the number one item thieves are taking,
Use an anti-theft device, such as an alarm system or steering wheel locking device,
Whenever possible, park your vehicle in a well-illuminated area,
Permanently mark your property with your personal Identification (do not use your Social Security Number, we suggest your Driver License Identification Card No.),
Always keep the serial number to your electronic equipment, such as your MP-3 player, Cellular Telephone and Lap Top Computer,
Always be aware of your surroundings and of suspicious people loitering in the area,
Lock your car doors, roll your windows all the way up and secure your belongings before you at your destination. (thieves are always watching),
NEVER ASSUME THAT IT WON'T HAPPEN TO YOU

The fire prevention lecture scheduled for this Saturday at the Edendale Library has been cancelled. A LAFD Instructor was not available. The event will be re-scheduled after the New Year.

The Positive Energy Group will host a lecture on fire prevention and disaster preparedness Saturday, December 1st, 10:00AM at the Edendale Library, 2011 W. Sunset Bl. The one hour presentation will be an overview of basic fire prevention and disaster preparedness, and will be presented by The Los Angeles City Fire Department CERT Training Unit. Sat. September. 29, 2007 Gun shooting around 9:30 to 10:00 pm

1400 Block of Mohawk St. By pure miracle no one was hurt or killed. Residents came home to find out that a shooting had occurred and there was a stray bullet hole from their front door going all the way into their kitchen. It happen on Saturday, September 29, 2007, apparently 6 shots were fired and one hit their home.

At our next Positive Energy Group/crime prevention we will discuss a break down of what we as a community can do to develop a plan and stop the crime before it even starts.

Gang violence is up and shooting has become almost and everyday thing.

Stop the crime by reporting the crime, report suspicious activity. See tagging occurring call 911. When safe paint out the tagging down or call 311 to get it removed. Take safe and positive action become a block captain, want to become an Echo Park or Silver Lake Security Association member (for security patrol services) call the following numbers 323-666-3228 EPSA

or 213-323-644-1014 SLSA.

Holidays are here we need the communities to unite and work together in taking action to make a Positive Affect in our towns.

Another accident on the 1300 Block of N. Alvarado St.

Accidents occur practically almost everyday, just a few get reported and others just for insurance purposes don't report it.

It has become an everyday routine of hearing the terrible screeching of the tires and then a big boom! I still get butterflies on my stomach every time I hear it.

This incident happen about 8:35 am, Saturday, August 18, 2007. Notice how far it is from the bus stop, yes, it is less then 10 feet away. There were people waiting for the bus, and Thank God that no one got hurt as the car made its way up the sidewalk and right into the fence. The horror of what it would have been.

The driver of the car was injured.

During last month's Positive Energy meeting at the Edendale Library, I spoke briefly about what we, as a community , can expect from the coming summer season. In LA, its not the Memorial Day weekend that marks the beginning of summer, it is the thunderous sounds of explosives in the street. And it seems that every year, the noise is more piercing.
Typically, "fireworks season" runs from early June through the second week of July. Throughout this period, we are treated to an almost continual pop-pop-pop, that is punctuated with whistles, sizzles and the peace -shattering BOOM. What frustrates us is the fact there is little that can be done to stop those who freely light-off fireworks outside of our homes.
While it is true that fireworks of any kind are illegal in Los Angeles, children of grade school age have easy access to dangerous high explosive M-80's , and sky rockets which can maime, burn and blind. The distributors of illegal fireworks are often older kids and adults who live in the neighborhood.
If you suspect that someone in your area is selling fireworks, contact the your Senior Lead officer, or the Fire Dept. Your call, can cut the volume of explosive activity around you, and may potentially save a young person from suffering a life-long disability.
